It’s a Boy! July 12, 2009

Baby Calvin

We had a baby boy this weekend!  Two weeks early, Sarah went into labor on Friday night while I was at the store buying milk.  Completely unexpected, as much as 38 weeks can be, and wonderful.

Calvin Andrew Rittle was born at 10:09 a.m. Saturday 7.11.09, weighing 6 lbs, 6 oz.  He’s 19 inches long … He’s tiny!  I can’t think of any more to do but show you more first and second day pictures.  Check back for more!

The first ones are in the first minutes after birth.  We were so tired on Saturday that we didn’t take too many more pictures.  Also Daddy spent some time going back and forth between our house and the hospital.

On Sunday after a little rest we brought Edie to meet her brother.  Besides Calvin, she was also very interested in other hospital things, including the adjustable bed with eating table.

Edie is taking pleasure at looking at and hugging her new brother.  She does seem a little out of sorts however and is still getting used to the whole thing.  We’re trying to keep her routine as much as possible.  She is continuing day care for at least part time for now, but nothing changes the fact of another person in the house.
